Exactly. And I'm telling you, the feeling of your bare feet walking through warm sand or soft grass is amazing. It feels so sensual and relaxing, that you'll wonder why you didn't start walking barefoot years ago. There are of course some dangers to walking barefoot, and these will be discussed a bit later on.
Barefoot or minimalist is a tool. A tool that encourages you to fix certain bad practices. A pain of fivefingers or being barefoot won't magically force you to run with good form. I've run right behind a guy in fivefingers that was heavily heel striking. Granted, this was at 32k in a marathon, where form breakdown occurs. In the same context are the tens of thousands of workers who daily load and unload ships while working barefoot on the docks of such coastal cities as Singapore, Jakarta, Bombay, etc. They carry back loads as heavy as 50 and 60 pounds on their shoulders, walking barefoot on the thick planks. And rarely a foot or arch complaint.

The risk of frostbite is too strong, and the neighbors will think you've gone nuts. There really is a reason boots were invented. But walking in a bit of cold snow for a few minutes could do Walking around barefoot should be normalized. In some countries (new zealand, South Africa) walking around barefoot is socially acceptable but in the rest of the world is not. I think there is nothing gross about being barefoot outside in the summer, even in the city. Shoes are overrated and i hate flip flops. This thread is archived. New
